  • News Roundup: 9/3/2010

Want to (briefly) join Pavement? The band will be playing Late Night With Jimmy Fallon later this month, and they’re looking for a fan to play guitar at the show.  [Pitchfork.com]

Now that all the CMA nominees have been announced, Miranda Lambert is in the lead with nine nods — the most ever for a female country music artist. 2010 has been quite kind to the 26 year-old Lambert, who accepted three Academy of County Music awards in April, became engaged to Blake Shelton several months later, and scored her first number one hit with “The House That Built Me.” The CMAs air on November 10th, 2010. Forty of Bob Dylan’s acrylic paintings are on display at Denmark’s National Gallery. Entitled “The Brazil Series,” the paintings focus on Brazilian life and were inspired by Dylan’s recent trip to the country. [Spinner.com]

Things aren’t looking so good for Axl Rose, who botched another show this week. Several days after showing up late to their performances at the Reading and Leeds Festivals, Guns N’ Roses played the O2 Arena in Dublin, where they took the stage nearly 60 minutes late. The audience responded by jeering and throwing plastic bottles onto the stage, and Axl cut the gig short after 20 minutes. One hour later, O2 employees were able to convince GNR to return to the stage and finish their set, although ticket-holders who had already left the venue were barred from coming back in. Lauryn Hill is back on tour and “getting closer” to releasing her first album since 1998’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill. [MTV.com]

“Radioactive,” the first single from Kings of Leon’s upcoming Come Around Sundown, will premiere next week on the band’s website. More details about the album have been released, too, including the tracklist and the cover art. [NME.com]

Ben Folds talks to Billboard about his collaboration with High Fidelity author Nick Hornby. Set for release on September 28th, Lonely Avenue features lyrics by Hornby and music by Folds, with Paul Buckmaster adding strings to several tracks. [Billboard.com]

  • The Summer Jam of the Summer 2010!

Finally, right? It’s September and it’s time to stop blathering on about summer jams. Starting next week – Autumn Jams! Seriously though, didn’t want to let the warm days and hot nights slip away without one last jam, the jam of all jams even. The radio pop has been amazing this year (despite what some may say), the hip hop has been solid, and there’s been loads of excellent indie pop too, but the one song that’s stuck with me the longest, held on to me the tightest, and made me feel the bestest is…..

“When I’m With You” by Best Coast! The world *is* crazy, but when I’m with you Bethany, I feel fine…
