Governor Martin O'Malley will be giving the State of the State Address today.
The speech is scheduled for Wednesday at noon in Annapolis before the Maryland General Assembly.
Aides say Governor O’Malley may chastise lawmakers for failing to address transportation funding these last few years, though he is not expected to endorse any specific proposal.
The O’Malley aides who spoke to WBAL News say this issue would be a last minute addition to the speech, if the governor addresses it.
Last year the governor had a proposal to phase in the sales tax on gasoline.
The proposal went nowhere.
There are several ideas on transportation funding floating around Annapolis.
In excerpts of the speech released this morning, the governor is expected to talk about the "tough choices" lawmakers have made over the last few years to help balance the state budget, and cut most of the structural deficit.
The governor is also expected to talk about his proposals on gun control, wind energy, and the effort to repeal the death penalty.
There's a new feature to this year's speech. Maryland residents will be able to submit questions to the governor, lieutenant governor and other members of the O'Malley administration.
