One-time Temptations vocalist Ali-Ollie Woodson succumbed to leukemia this weekend after battling the disease for 18 months. Woodson became the group’s lead singer in 1984, the same year that “Treat Her Like A Lady” — a song he both co-wrote and co-produced — reached number two on the R&B charts. After leaving the Temptations in 1996, he launched a solo career and periodically toured with a Temptations-styled revue named Ali-Ollie Woodson & the Emperors of Soul. [Variety.com]Organist Rosa Rio, deemed the “Queen of the Soaps” for providing organ accompaniment for dozens of soap operas, silent films, and radio programs during the first half of the 20th century, passed away last month. Following several decades of soundtrack work, Rio moved to Florida and became the Tampa Theatre’s in-house organist. She was 107. [TBO.com]
